In the summer of 2015, Mara worked for Massaro Construction Management Services, a CM at Risk firm out of Pittsburgh, PA. The focus of her internship was learning the role of a project manager as a CM rather than a GC, managing the interests of the owner while also managing daily construction activities. The summer of 2014, Mara was an engineering intern at Canon Design, an architecture firm in Pittsburgh, PA. She rotated between each engineering discipline to get a better feel for how all disciplines come together to design a building.

Outside of academics, Mara plays Club Basketball at Penn State, having served as the club president for two years. Mara is also an Intramural Sports supervisor, managing and facilitating intramural sports for students at Penn State. Mara enjoys sports, spending time with family, and DIY home projects.

Mara Fitzgerald is currently in her 5th year at Penn State studying Architectural Engineering with a focus in construction. In May 2018, she will graduate with a Bachelors of Architectural Engineering. The past two summers (2017 &2016) Mara has worked for Forrester Construction, a mid-sized general contractor in the DC Metro area, as a field engineer intern. Studying under both project managers and superintendents, Mara learned valuable skills that will better equip her to enter the industry after graduation.
